High Tune

Hello!
It’s been a while. Hehe. Anyway, things are getting better in my study life. So since I’m kind of relaxed this week, I have time for more ideas! Yay!
This one is for a short film :)

Title: High Tune

Zion is a born-singer. Ever since he was young, he’s always been praised for his powerful voice. To Zion, his voice is his future---his edge, bread and butter to this world. But one day, Zion fell ill. It was so bad that he had to be hospitalized. Because of his medication, his voice got affected. The once flawless and smooth voice of the young guy became hoarse. Zion got depressed because of the turn-out of events and secluded himself to the world with his guitar.

Fast forward to 3 years, Zion is still stuck in his past---the sorrows of him echoing within the walls. One day, his brother decided to bring him to a town festival to cheer up his mood. Zion was reluctant at first, but was urged by his brother to follow. When they got to the festival, there is a mini stage for singers and dancers to perform. Zion watched the performers as he reminisce the times when his voice was still at its glorious tune. Of course, the brother has another agenda in mind---he wanted to see Zion breathe music again. He’s always worried for his brother ever since the incident happened and knowing him, he knows how much Zion is born to create music. So, he secretly signed up his brother as one of the performers. The host announced the next performer that Zion could not help but be astonished…and ashamed.

Could he do it again? Could his voice make it? He was so nervous that he almost chickened out but his brother assured him that he will be fine and even do well. Zion’s inner battle is finally at its peak. This is the moment he know he only has two options: to run or to go…Zion wanted to do the former, but his mind says the latter.

So, he got up in the stage…but instead of using his voice, he picked up a guitar. His brother wondered why Zion cannot put the courage to try…but was still happy for this small improvement. Zion, still hesitant, doesn’t know where to begin…

He took a deep breath, internalize for a while and started playing his instrument

Then suddenly, a beautiful tune came out. It wasn’t his voice. He’s certain it will never return. But what he’s creating at that moment is much more beautiful than what his voice can ever create. This tune is different---it expresses anguish, despair, happiness, regret and more emotions all in one. Zion’s brother cannot believe what he’s seeing. Zion once again looked lively and much more alive than before. Zion’s isolation allowed him to work on his guitar without even realizing that he’s creating a new voice.

A voice so beautiful that transcends beyond sound.

Thank you for reading!
