On Duty 24/7

This is the feature article I wrote from my interview with GMA Reporter, Ms. Tricia Zafra and is a required activity for our Journalism Basic Principles and Practices subject.

On Duty 24/7

Serious, stiff and straight to the point---that’s how TV journalists establish themselves in front of the camera. They have to look professional and reputable as they bring the news to the ever-curious public. This job may seem glamorous as they appear on television but for GMA News’ Tricia Zafra, it’s difficult but it’s worth a lifetime.

“Yung kagustuhan ko na, yung hangaan ka ng mga tao. Hindi dahil sa itsura mo, hindi dahil sa nakakatawa ka, kundi dahil sa ginagawa mo at yung ginagawa mo mayroon siyang halaga sa society.” Zafra said when she was asked about her drive on being a journalist. Unfazed and dignified, this petite and baby faced journalist oozes professionalism and firmness even though she just came fresh from a news coverage on her day off.

She also believes that intelligence should be admired than the physical appearance and that female journalists just like one of television’s most prized reporter and her senior, Jessica Soho, are embodiment of both dignity and grace; beauty and brains. A Cum Laude graduate of BA in Broadcast Communication in UP Diliman, Zafra’s childhood heroes are Loren Legarda and Angelique Laso to name a few.

When asked about the essential skills journalists should be equipped with, Tricia Zafra answered convincingly----a sign of her wisdom, knowledge, length of stay in the industry, practice and respect for her craft.  “Unang-una communication skills talaga.
Kailangan proficient ka sa Filipino…  Second siyempre English, kasi it’s the language used in the corporate world… Pati yung comprehension skills so hindi ka lang dapat magaling magsalita o kaya magsulat.” She said with utmost confidence.
She also added a few more golden nuggets to her answer. Apart from the things she mentioned, she said that journalists should be good observers, sensitive to cultural differences and use of words, courteous to people and most especially, easy to work with. Despite gaining recognition and popularity, journalists like Tricia Zafra are down to earth and engaging conversationalists who eagerly shares information but doesn’t put someone in an awkward situation because they emit an accommodating nature and charm.

One the other hand, it is a fact that not all people watch news. The prevalence of entertainment shows proves that the masses prefer to be entertained more than to be informed. Shortened news, reaching out to new platforms and other adjustments, the media strives to capture a larger audience interest. In the eyes of Tricia Zafra, this is truer than ever.  “Ang pinaka nakakainis sa part namin. Napanuod yung story mo, ‘Uy napanuod ko yung report mo.’ Oh talaga ayos ba? ‘Ang oily mo’… ”

A frustration boomed from the heart to the voice, Tricia Zafra, as much as she gives every fiber of her being to the profession, she wishes the public to be appreciative of their industry’s efforts. Every single day, they gather, write, revise, congest, shoot and report news to serve the people in high hopes that the people will be fed well with facts. This may be one of the downsides of her job but on the contrary, the advantages, in her own opinion, are better than its counterparts.

Despite of the nature of her job having odd working hours, Tricia Zafra is true to her calling and is always willing to be available whenever her duty calls for it. No matter what, where, why or when, Zafra knows the ups and downs of her work but nevertheless, is always reminded of the best thing she could ever have in her life:

“ako ngayon talaga masaya ako and I think that’s the greatest perk di ba…”
Indeed, Tricia Zafra’s happiness and willing to serve is always on duty 24/7.

Lion Heart

Hello!
It's been a while, right?
Anyway, I'm so busy at school I don't even know which of the subjects or activities is my top priority.
Hahaha. Anyway, I want to share to you a very beautiful song.

There are tons of songs about girls wanting to keep a guy or turn a player into someone who's very loyal to his lover...this song has that theme but the thing that makes it so unique and catchy is its tune, vibe and lyrics...the lyrics are subtle and so feminine. I like this song so much that I replayed it for so many times for days! Hahaha! The thing is, I'm not really much a fan of girl groups since my taste likes complex choreography and boy group songs...but this one is an exception.

This one is from SNSD with the title "Lion Heart" (ENJOY!)

I'm looking forward to blog regularly again. So see you next time!

Hanging till the fall

Hanging till the fall

Diane – a simple yet intelligent girl. She loves color black and helping people. Even though a lot of people are telling her she’s pretty, she thinks otherwise about herself.

Prince – Diane’s school mate who is always in need of help. Since he has trouble with his academics, Diane is his savior. He’s very friendly and sweet to everyone.

Mandy – Diane’s best friend. She knows Diane very well and always tells her to be herself. She’s a confident and independent woman who’s as intelligent as Diane.

Story

Diane has a problem. It’s been three years since she went to college and she feels as if she’s not growing as a person.

Her grades are great then they’ll get mediocre.

She’s full of energy then feel very tired the next.

She feels like as if she’s in a roller coaster ride and the most alarming thing is, she doesn’t feel romantically attracted to boys.

The good thing is, Mandy, her best friend is there to keep her in place.

One day, their school mate Prince approached Diane to help him with his final project --- a short film.

Diane’s the type of person who’s hard to say “no” to anyone.

Therefore, Diane agreed helping Prince with the project.
Diane juggled her days in between fixing her own life and helping Prince. Prince on the other hand, feels he’s a burden for her but cannot do anything but ease her helping duties to help her.

They did the project for a week. Diane also took her exams. Prince thanked him for everything. The result went good for Prince…

But for Diane…it’s the worst…
Her grades got lower
She’s always out of energy
And she feels boggled…

Mandy reassured her that she can get back on track but Diane knows that it will never be the same again. She realized that it’s something unwelcomed that’s been bothering her and it’s either she’ll have a hard time getting it off or hard time making it grow.

She needs motivation, she needs a source and Mandy knows where to get it...

Diane needs Prince.

But Prince is not the type to think about love as of the moment. He knew his priorities well and Diane’s not a part of it. He’s thankful but that’s all he could give right now.

And with the struggle to get back on track, Diane needs to keep on hanging before she falls.

Love Shower Part 2

taken from google search

My phone ringed.

I cannot answer the call since my hand is holding the umbrella while the other is pinning my hair. It stopped but then it started ringing again. I was getting irritated as it’s already the fifth time so I stopped by the shed to finally answer the call.

“Hello?” I said.

“Where are you?” the person replied.

I don’t know if this is a good opportunity to be with someone and help me cope up with my feelings. On the other hand, I just want to be with myself and to fill in the void alone just to say I made it without anybody’s help.

“I’m busy right now. Sorry.” I said then turned down the call.

Somehow, I feel guilty. Usually, people aren’t there when you need them. But this one, I turned the offer down when I know I needed it the most.

I must be stupid and proud…and maybe that’s what made him go away.

With no direction, I continued walking down the streets until I passed by a pastry shop. I am not a fan of rolls and breads and sweet pies that girls usually do but just for today, I wanted to explore a side of the world I haven’t yet discovered. I wanted to be new. I wanted to be able to say “I’ve changed” if ever there’ll be a chance that I can shove it to his face. I wanted to be higher than him…I wanted him to regret leaving me. And now that I’m thinking about it, I realized I still have a long way to go in forgetting him.

But damn, I want these sweet cakes to taste like my revenge.

I ordered a strawberry cake roll and an Earl Grey. I also found a decent spot near the bookshelf. The smell of pastries and sweets wafted over the room and opening a book from their shelves is a picturesque of an ideal romantic date. The jazz music is played all over the small place and the sound of rain adds another music to the ears.

It was a beautiful moment...and I am trying so hard to appreciate it.

I was reading a book when I heard someone pulled the chair in front of me.

“Hello” he said. His soft voice made me curious.

And when I looked to which the voice belonged to, I saw that his face is way softer and angelic for his voice.

I stared at him as if I’m giving him a negative message. Mentally, I am trying to figure out what to do. But he’s staring right back at me…and now, we’re in a stare fest; two strangers plunging beneath the soul in a pair of confused eyes.

I really don’t know what to do.

But automatically, I know my body tensed…but I felt some warmth.

It’s gonna be an interesting day.

And with that thought, I didn’t remove my eyes off him and smiled.

“Hi” I replied.

The Two Sides of Social Media

The Two Sides of Social Media

http://www.jsums.edu/socialmedia/files/2015/05/SocialMedia.jpg

If there is one thing that everyone, almost everyone, is into these days, it is definitely the use of Social Media. Users can chat, play, shop and even earn upon its use. A single click on the Like, Share or Send button can create thousands of possibilities and response from other even from the other side of the continent. This may sound perfect but just like everything else in this world, the Social Media has its own share of imperfections too, and that is in the face of misuse and lack of security. That's why, it is important for us, users, to be educated about the proper utilization of Social Media by being cautious and responsible for our actions.

During the earlier years, people are accustomed to the usual brick and mortar or physical stores to buy products. Now, the emergence of Social Media opened an opportunity for business and the evidence is the prevalence of online shopping that is said to be more convenient than going outside to buy in malls and in the perspective of the business owner, cheaper than paying rent and other expenses. Goods such as imported perfumes, apparels and merchandise can now be ordered with few simple clicks. Moreover, the fact that the Social Media connects people everywhere made it more or less than a basic necessity of our generation. Users can also meet new people of same interest or even rekindle with loved ones who are far away. Another factor is that Social Media provides novelty---users can connect to others in various ways. There is the regular chat, the audio call, video chat, group or conference chats and etc. Also, Social Media is the express medium of sharing information. It is very much obvious that today, even news contents are now available online instead of just being disseminated in print or television.

On the downside, Social Media is a threat for security. Not all users are with good intentions. For example, there are reports about scams, bogus sellers/buyers, cyber-sex, cyber-bullying and other online related crimes that are surfacing today. Everyone, even regular people can be a victim of hateful or degrading comments from people who sadly doesn't even know you at all. There are so many things going on online at once that it is impossible to take down all of the negative activities immediately. The Social Media can be a breeding place for the good and bad and sadly, not all people are educated on how to use it properly.

Overall, The Social Media can be a blessing or the exact opposite. It depends on the experience of the user and how he uses it. The good thing is that there are initiatives that are advocating the responsible use of Social Media. They teach people on how to discern or be critical on how they accept messages or meanings online which is absolutely what all of us should be knowledgeable about. Another good thing is that the endeavour for a peaceful and "healthier" Social Media environment is possible. With the awakening of more potential responsible users, the Social Media can be a happy place to be with.

Love Shower Part 1

Hello!

Since it's Valentines (Happy Valentines to you!), I decided to make a mini-series of short stories about love. I am going to make these stories for the remaining days of February so let's see how this goes. Hehe.

Here's the first one...enjoy!

Love Shower

It was a rainy morning and I feel melancholic as the rain drops pour in my window with a fainted light across the curtains. Droplets made the leaves heavy, as well as my mood. I am on my own. I don’t live with anyone by myself---in this pale blue apartment with a cup of tea in my hand; I feel lonely.

I wondered why the rain makes us sad when it’s supposed to be refreshing. The land, crops and basically the whole earth cools down with every downpour, but why does it also makes a person feel down too? I should love the rain. I should create a memory wherein rain will be my sunshine. I should remove this notion of loneliness when it’s raining. For others, it may sound so absurd to think too much how about what someone feels when it’s raining. But as for me, I don’t want my emotions to be like a weather or even a season that changes from time to time---I want to be constantly happy.

I picked up my umbrella and headed towards the door. The drenched outside world is waiting for me. Even though I hate getting wet, I braved the streets with my resolute to end my loneliness with this rain. Cold wind pass across my face, cutting beneath my cheeks while the pattering sounds of my feet sounded like a sad harmony. It’s traumatizing and I want to go back home, where I know I could be warm and safe. But I know I need to love the rain, and appreciate it so I gathered few steps more.

It was really hard to walk in the rain. I imagine tears puddle up in the streets and breeze from a pierced heart. I imagined myself during the darkest days of my life. It was just like rainy season---clouds clustered in the sky, tears blocking my eyesight, the cold gave me goose bumps and his voice resonated like a thunder. It was a storm I was devastated from, and it took me so long to find its eye for I am hanging on to its tails. It was raining when he left and it is now raining that he’s gone.

But it is now raining that I also remember that day, and that’s why I want to befriend the rain---so the dark shadows of the past will fade away.

Thanks for reading :)

Music Review: ONE OK ROCK’s Heartache

Hello!

So for this post, I’ll be writing my thoughts about ONE OK ROCK’s Heartache. I’ve been a fan for many years now and I listen to all of their songs so I am also aware of how their music changes from one album to another. It’s true that ONE OK ROCK continues to evolve its music especially now that they are reaching for a wider global audience, but anything is fine with me.

As a fan, I will stay supportive to whatever they plan to do with their music but of course, I hope that they will still incorporate their own Japanese rock/ONE OK ROCK signature style to their upcoming music. In all honesty, they write great songs even before they became affiliated with American producers or labels. There’s this vibe or formula that when you hear it, you know it’s ONE OK ROCK. I cannot pin-point to what aspect of their music shows their distinct style though.

Anyway, I choose to write a music review about Heartache mainly because it’s Valentines…and their slow rock love songs really tugs the heartstrings. (AND THIS IS MY CURRENT MOOD LOL). In totality, ONE OK ROCK’s slow love songs are over flowing with emotion, love, pain and other feelings (OMG IS THIS KANJOU EFFECT? HAHA) that every time I listen to it, I just can’t help but pick up the emotion from the song. I guess that’s a sign that music does transcend cultural barriers. I can feel and understand the message just by listening to the song…or maybe it’s just that they are that good. I think I’m straying away from the topic…lol.

I am no professional but I’ll TRY to do well with my review. So read on :--)

Heartache

Ah, this is probably one of the most heart-wrenching songs I’ve ever heard. Lyrics wise, the song really shows heartache. The choice of words and how it is sung really makes my heart heavy every time I play it. The first stanza is very strong for me: “So they say that time takes away the pain, but I’m still the same.” From the moment I heard it, I was like “dang. I wanna cry.”

For me, the message is well shown with the quality of the lyrics. I also like the fact that the musical arrangement is very light from the beginning up to the middle part because it created a good build-up until the song is accompanied with heavy drum beats, guitar strums and bass lines up to the end; like an escalator wherein the first few parts of the songs tells you to prepare for a very intense middle part and an energy-maintained end. The progressive instrumental yet Taka’s singing creates a contrast, emphasizing the “I can’t help but feel the pain” vibe of the song, especially with the way Taka sang it with the middle part.

Taka’s voice is well-controlled, Toru’s guitar lines are placed well and Ryota’s bass lines complements Tomoya’s drumming. I remember the first time I heard it from Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends trailer, it made me tear up a bit because even though it speaks about a broken heart from a failed relationship, it somewhat connected to the film.

Overall, it leaves me temporarily broken with every single play although I must say, the acoustic version is A-W-E-S-O-M-E. The feeling seems raw, and it’s more sentimental with Tomoya playing the lyre. It is not the usual Japanese sound as it sounds more Westernized but it’s one of those songs that you can recommend to a non-fan who’s interested to listen to the band for the first time. Somehow, it kind of reminds me of Wherever You Are and Pierce. Nevertheless, this song is of quality in terms of technical and emotional effect to its listeners.

Heartache acoustic version:

So, that’s my review! I don’t know if I make any sense at all. LOL. But if you have any suggestions as to how I can improve my writing skills, please do comment on this post. All the views here are just my opinion.
Thank you!

Notice Me!

Hello!
I’ve been itching to post my super-cliché story here on my blog because (for me) it is super fun and (relatable). LOL. I am always trying to post stories or ideas that makes my brain work and think more but it’s nice to write stories that are pleasant to do once in a while, right?

Anyway, this is inspired by the phone app, Notice me Senpai! (it is like Neko Atsume, but you collect guys instead of cats hahahaha). I’m totally addicted to that game so I decided to make a story derived from that one! Hehe

Title: Notice Me, Please?

Format: Short Film
Language: English, Filipino, a bit of Hangul and Nihonggo

Story:

Jenna is a 2nd year college student who loves watching J-drama and K-dramas. Because of this, she is the typical fan girl who gushes about Oppas (Korean term for older guy/brother/also endearment for a guy someone finds an interest with) and Senpais (the Japanese counterpart of Oppa). It was the start of new semester when she was enrolled in a class with 2 international students---one is a cute and baby faced Korean guy with round reading glasses named Se Han and the other one is a charming Japanese guy with curly mop head hair and cute smile named Takahiro.

The teacher was assigning the seats when Jenna was tasked to seat between the Se Han and Takahiro. Being a shy girl, Jenna is too stiff and awkward around the guys. Since she is too shy to start a conversation, the two boys are quiet around her as well. Her expectation is for her to exchange jokes and be close with the guys, just like what she sees from watching J and K dramas. But in reality, the semester went by with no progress between Jenna and the guys---she was so passive that she wasn’t able to make friends with them.

When the next semester arrived, Jenna was in regret for not being friendly to the two guys. Although she finds them cute and much like the idols she adores in drama shows, Jenna seems too powerless that she literally runs or quickly avoids the guys the moment she notices them. To the eyes of Se Han and Takahiro, Jenna looks like the traumatized kid who got a bad experience from being their seat mate when in reality, Jenna wants to know them more.

It was only 6 months away before graduation and Jenna resolved that she wanted to be friends with Se Han and Takahiro before they graduate. With limited time and a late realization, Jenna will try the most subtle and even the most obvious actions and methods just for them to notice her. And if they notice her, who will she pick among the two? Is it the cute and child-like Se Han or the mature and free spirited Takahiro?

^So let me explain for this one. I know that it doesn’t really sound good that girls chase after boys with such measures. But this is inspired by romantic Asian films wherein girls do the moves for the boys. I am not degrading any sexes here. This is just a work of fiction that wants to depict a cute, teen-ish, puppy love type of romantic story.

Anyway, here are some Oppa and Senpai memes I would like to share. hehehehehe.

Lost Child

Title: Middle Child

Format: Short Film

Language: Filipino, English

Story:

taken from the internet

Mica is the middle child in her family. Her brother is a popular whiz student who excels in Academics while her younger sister is best known for her superb dancing and singing skills. While her two siblings have distinct talents, Mica feels like she was the loser---the child who doesn’t have any talents.

School festival week is approaching and Mica’s siblings are busy for their own activities. She, on the other hand, went to a vacant room to get some nap. It also happened that a young man entered a room. He doesn’t look the prim and proper type yet not the delinquent one but there’s something in him that suggests he’s somewhat spunky. He woke up Mica and offered her to join him to an interesting place where they will never get bored. Mica was curious that she agreed and joined the guy...

It was already night time and Mica isn’t home yet. Her parents are worried about her because she’s not answering any phone calls or texts. They feared that Mica may have been kidnapped or what. They called Mica’s classmates but was unfortunate to get any lead on their daughter’s whereabouts. The family and Mica’s school were worried that they ordered the police to track the young girl. With this, they got an information that Mica left the school with a guy and headed to somewhere far from the school.

Immediately, Mica’s family together with the police, went to the alleged location. They were all curious on why the information lead them to a decent coffee shop. They entered the store and heard a familiar voice…

Mica was reciting a poetry she and her new found friend, Kevin made a while ago. Kevin is a student and part-time spoken poetry artist at the shop. Earlier at school, he was finding a quiet place to get some rest when he saw Mica. He knew she was the sibling of the two most popular school in their class and that she’s the most pressured one---so he felt the urge to help her release her pain, fears and hopes thru poetry.

Mica finished the piece with tears in her eyes. Her parents and siblings are shocked too. They didn’t know that Mica was struggling all along. Mica thanked and hugged Kevin before leaving the shop and went inside the car

---a signal that the lost middle child is ready to go home.

Ideassssss

Hello!
Happy Sunday!

So for this day, I am sharing to you my idea about our midterm output. We are asked to write two ideas but honestly, I passed mediocre ideas and I know I can think of a more decent concept if I’m not constrained with a time limit.

Anyway, so here are my two options:

1. What if a boy who’s taking up a course in Medicine realized that he wants to do something else but is pressured by his family who are also professionals?

The whole class laughed at this one and I simply don’t know why. What’s funny with how contrasting these two ideas where? Because when I wrote this, I have the beauty vs. bread perspective in mind. Maybe it’s because of how I use the words that made them laugh but I’m thinking of a full-length or a short film about internal struggles of choosing between the need vs. want of the character. I got some of the ideas from BECK/Mongolian Chop Squad which is a manga, anime and a live action film.

What I’m planning for this story is the main character got frustrated from trying too hard in pursuing Medicine, a profession his parents (who are both Doctors) wants him to pursue and resorts to playing drums or guitar and listening to rock music to for a temporary escape. Then, this frustration grew that he thought of just pursuing what he likes---music---so that he doesn’t have to face disappointments because he loves what he is doing. With this resolution in mind, he tried to fit music and studies in his life. Studying in the day and rehearsing with his former band mates from high school. But here’s what I want the character to learn: he will also face some disappointments in trying for a music career---they don’t have a venue to play, nobody knows their band, they haven’t wrote their own songs and they cannot manage time to get a proper rehearsal practice.

Basically, in the end, I want him to realize that you must work hard to make something work. You can’t expect a great result with a half-baked process. It’s either he end his studies or end his music career…and I’m going to stop here. Mwehehehehehehe.

2. What if you never had a boyfriend and your relatives, especially your grandparents, forced you to join a dating game show?

Well, this one is inspired by the Chinese dating game show, Fei Cheng Wu Rao. For this story, I’ll have a female character (I’m still thinking if she’s Chinese-Filipina) who seems to be unlucky in love. She never had a boyfriend and no one seems to show interest in her despite the fact that she’s decent-looking, is a wife material and smart. Her grandparents were worried that she may end up single for the rest of her life. With that, they urged her to go on a vacation in China and join the show Fei Cheng Wu Rao.

She’ll join the show but unfortunately didn’t snag the guy so she’ll return home. Upon returning home, she’ll ask her relatives and grandparents not to interfere with her love life as she’ll try working on it on her own. One day, her high school friend called her and told her that they will be having an Alumni Homecoming. The protagonist will come and will be surprised as one of the games during the program is their own version of Fei Cheng Wu Rao---with her high school crush as the guy who’s searching for a date.

Will she now succeed to win the game? Or will she go home empty handed again?

So, those are my two options for our midterm output! Wish me luck! Hahahaha!

Thank you for reading!

High Tune

Hello!
It’s been a while. Hehe. Anyway, things are getting better in my study life. So since I’m kind of relaxed this week, I have time for more ideas! Yay!
This one is for a short film :)

Title: High Tune

Zion is a born-singer. Ever since he was young, he’s always been praised for his powerful voice. To Zion, his voice is his future---his edge, bread and butter to this world. But one day, Zion fell ill. It was so bad that he had to be hospitalized. Because of his medication, his voice got affected. The once flawless and smooth voice of the young guy became hoarse. Zion got depressed because of the turn-out of events and secluded himself to the world with his guitar.

Fast forward to 3 years, Zion is still stuck in his past---the sorrows of him echoing within the walls. One day, his brother decided to bring him to a town festival to cheer up his mood. Zion was reluctant at first, but was urged by his brother to follow. When they got to the festival, there is a mini stage for singers and dancers to perform. Zion watched the performers as he reminisce the times when his voice was still at its glorious tune. Of course, the brother has another agenda in mind---he wanted to see Zion breathe music again. He’s always worried for his brother ever since the incident happened and knowing him, he knows how much Zion is born to create music. So, he secretly signed up his brother as one of the performers. The host announced the next performer that Zion could not help but be astonished…and ashamed.

Could he do it again? Could his voice make it? He was so nervous that he almost chickened out but his brother assured him that he will be fine and even do well. Zion’s inner battle is finally at its peak. This is the moment he know he only has two options: to run or to go…Zion wanted to do the former, but his mind says the latter.

So, he got up in the stage…but instead of using his voice, he picked up a guitar. His brother wondered why Zion cannot put the courage to try…but was still happy for this small improvement. Zion, still hesitant, doesn’t know where to begin…

He took a deep breath, internalize for a while and started playing his instrument

Then suddenly, a beautiful tune came out. It wasn’t his voice. He’s certain it will never return. But what he’s creating at that moment is much more beautiful than what his voice can ever create. This tune is different---it expresses anguish, despair, happiness, regret and more emotions all in one. Zion’s brother cannot believe what he’s seeing. Zion once again looked lively and much more alive than before. Zion’s isolation allowed him to work on his guitar without even realizing that he’s creating a new voice.

A voice so beautiful that transcends beyond sound.

1st Post for Feb!

Hello world!

Happy February awaits us!
Love is in the air this month but for all the single ladies like me, let us all enjoy our own company! haha

Anyway, since today is February 4. I’m gonna be posting ideas with the themes of love, romance and etc. When I say love, it doesn’t mean that it’s always a story between a girl and a boy. There is love from family, friends, everyone that I hope I can make an idea about.

For this post, I have an idea for a full-length film. It is a rom-com kind of clichéd type. hehehe

Please read on!

DATE NIGHT LIVE

Patricia is a budding production manager who won in a raffle contest.

Her prize is to have a date with popular model, Chris. She’s nervous but excited to meet a popular person but there are things she worry about: first, she has never been on a date; second, she’s 25 and Chris is 20 and lastly, she feels insecure because she’ll definitely like a rag next to him because of her lack of fashion sense. The result is a very awkward date---her very first date.

Months after that, Patricia joined her photographer cousin for a photo shoot.  It turns out that the model her cousin will work with is no other than Chris. Patricia is so embarrassed meeting him again but since Chris is a gentleman, he assured that things between them are okay. Later on, Patricia was asked by her co-worker friend to proxy for her with a meeting with a potential client. Patricia head on to the meeting and met Mrs. Lopez, Chris’ mother and a talent scout. She wants Patricia’s production company to work on a reality dating show with his son. The main reason for it is to boost his popularity with women and the public.

On the other side, she’s secretly screening women who is potential to be Chris’ future wife since she’s already reaching 60 years old. Eventually, the project pushed through and much to Patricia’s surprise, the management included her in the show after finding out she already dated Chris once!

GO GO GO!

Hello!

How are you doing?

As for me, I am in my usual stressed-student mode. When I was younger, I didn't think school means stress…but now that I'm in college, it seems that stress is an inevitable part especially if you really want to produce good grades. But I am not complaining. It just proves the saying that...

“Nothing worth having comes easy.”

With this, I got an idea for an inspirational book. I would like to do a compilation of the words to live by or words of inspiration from normal people. Usually, quotes or motivational words came from your favorite actor, leader or other famous people. So for this one, I’d like the words of wisdom to come from the words of normal people---which are insightful and of course, can be inspirational too! Honestly, each person is interesting because they all have different stories. I believe that by their own experiences, they can give a piece of advice, motivational words, or life quotes that others can truly relate as well.

I got this idea because a lot of teens today are becoming lonesome or stressed or mislead from thinking likes and material things are the top most necessity. It can also be because of pressure from peers, or education, or attention and a lot more factors. I believe that they are their peak wherein they are very delicate and therefore, it’s that time when older ones really talk to their children or when youths encourage their fellow to be cheered and empowered. I am thinking of just a simple book or booklet with cute, unisex designs that contains the most striking words compiled from people.

Like this one, QUOTE OF THE DAY booklet by Candy Magazine:

I think this will also become handy for me since I am also kind of stressed with all the school works. Hahaha

Anyway, I’ll leave you a song from my favorite band which is about encouraging you to be the light!

My favorite part/lyrics of the song is/are:

What did it leave behind?
What did it take from us and wash away?
It may be long
But with our hearts start anew
And keep it up and not give up
With our heads held high

Idea for a short film

Title: Melodies

Genre: Romance

Short Film

Characters:

Mina – a die-hard fan and staff member of rock band The Harlequin. She’s a twenty-year old something woman who has a crush on the band’s vocalist, Sean but is painfully shy to admit her feelings that’s why even as a staff of her crush’s band, she acts stiff around him.

Sean – vocalist of The Harlequin and is a great composer. He’s trying to write a new material for their next album but is having a difficult time because of pressure. He’s very professional and treats the staff with respect.

Brad, Allen and Phil – members of The Harlequin and Sean’s friends since their college years at a music school. They also contribute to the song making process but more on the technical aspects. They sense that Mina likes Sean because she unconsciously spoil Sean more than the rest of the band.

Story:

Sean throws his compositions into the trash and seems infuriated that he can’t create any good piece for the past 3 months. Meanwhile, Mina was tasked to clean up the recording room, saw the pile of trash, read the pieces and kept it in her pocket. Upon returning to her room, Mina once again read the paper and tried making her own song out of it. She recorded it in her phone and fell asleep…

The other day, the band finished their rehearsal when Phil asked for Mina’s help to buy them food and medicine for Sean’s throat. She hurried outside and the rest of the band noticed that she forgot her phone. They decided to peek on it and saw Mina’s recordings. Pleased by Mina’s work, they asked her if they can use the compositions for their next album. Mina was happy to contribute to her favorite band, but Sean was happier because he knew the lyrics were the ones he wrote. In other words, Sean owes Mina for turning his trash into jewels.

One night, Sean called Mina for an “important talk.” It turns out, Sean wanted to thank Mina by performing an acoustic version of the song they wrote together. Sean also revealed that the song is too personal and special for him that it does not fit for the album’s concept so decided that he’ll not include the song in their list, implying that he wants to do a separate EP for it. Mina, on the other hand, misunderstood this and felt like Sean didn’t really liked the song at all. She got angry and walked out in front of Sean.

Months later, the band is performing their new album at a huge concert with more than 10,000 fans. Mina was one of the staff who’s watching from the technical booth and saw the set list. The place went pitch black when all of a sudden, a light lit at the stage where Sean was standing. He is holding an acoustic guitar and playing a familiar rhythm. Mina realized this and starting crying. Before playing the song, Sean said that this song is “his love letter to fans” which the fans loved. After the concert, Mina approached Sean and thanked him. In return, Sean hugged him and the rest of the band followed.

The story ends with the band and Mina altogether are trying to write a new song only five of them will get to listen to.
