ASPIRATIONS, FRUSTRATIONS AND FICTIONS

Well, hello there!

Thank you for reading my third blog post!

So I just realized that most of the ideas I have in my mind right now are about aspirations. Maybe it’s because I have too many aspirations (and frustrations) in life that I want to pursue (or if I can’t, I want to make a story out of it…just to compensate for my frustration. Lol).

Anyway, the following stories are NOT exactly my personal aspirations. The germ or main idea of it came from my aspirations, frustrations, influences and experiences and the rest are just a product of self-brainstorming:

This is me writing. Just kidding. Anyway, Eiji is my favorite anime character.

A teenager wanting to be a piano master.

(We all know that it’s too late for a teenager to be a piano master. I mean, usually, kids are trained at a very early age so that by the time they grow older, they already achieved or went beyond the Mastery level. So I want a story about a teenager who is very eager to prove to everybody that it’s not too late to pursue his dream for the longest time.)

A cross-cultural friendship.

(Okay. So this is one of my daydreams. HAHA. Sometimes, I want to imagine myself at the first day of school and someone, a foreign student, will enter the room and will be seating at the farthest seat possible. *cliché*

Then, it turns out that I am the only one who can speak the language of my new classmate’s mother tongue so I will be his/her companion in learning to adapt to the new environment. Then later on, we will exchange information and experience each other’s customs, culture, beliefs and etc. The story will focus on the exchange and beauty of each other’s culture…
.
.
.
I still don’t know how I want this to end though. Haha.)

A Transformation Story.

(This is a story about a girl who used to be bullied because of her weight. Several years passed and she’s already in college…with a svelte figure to boot. She made plans to meet up with some of her former classmates to show off her new image. She manages to make her guy bullies fall for her and her girl bullies envy her…and everybody seems to love her new look. And one day, she herself became the bully without realizing it…Is it all worth the change?

All I can say is…I still need to improve. A lot. Haha.

So what can you say about it?

I’m very much willing to hear your comments, opinions, thoughts and suggestions!

Thank you for reading and see you next time!

MUSIC VIDEOS

Hello there!

Today, I’m going to share the 2 music videos that I’ve been watching for the past couple of days. The artist featuring these videos is actually my favorite. He used to be in a boy group in South Korea before and now, he’s a solo artist in China and has successfully launched his career as an actor, singer, dancer, and endorser and has graced a lot of magazine covers and TV appearances.

The other reason I posted this is because it is one of my dreams to direct a music video. I grew up watching MTV, Channel V and MYX and I am fascinated on how a story is condensed into a three or four minute song (and the idea that you can work with your favorite music artists. hehe).

So for today, I’ll be sharing about my ideas influenced by LUHAN’s Your Song and Promises music video!

1. YOUR SONG

MY REACTION: This video has a charming and very romantic concept. The sketches that floats around the video, other special effects, flowers and pastel colored setting and the flash mob scene somehow fits the romantic yet light vibe of the song. I like how there’s a funny element to it especially at the end. If you are a fan girl, then you will definitely go mushy over the video because of the lyrics, the flow of the story, and the serenade-like scene near the end (with the intense eye contact).

THE IDEA I GOT FROM THIS VIDEO: If I’m going to make a rom-com story, I will definitely take pointers from this video especially if my main character is the sweet, feminine type. I will make the male protagonist the gentleman type who surprises his girlfriend at a park through a flash mob. This sounds cliché so the twist is, the guy is a celebrity and fell in love with one of his fans which is the girl (and this is what you call…my fantasy. Hahaha).

2. PROMISES

MY REACTION: Although I think this is an Ad for a mobile phone brand (not sure), I must say that the story is solid throughout the video. The product placement is not too distracting and the concept is actually very interesting. The story is about a guy (played by Luhan) who constantly and fortuitously met a girl in different places. He took pictures and looks attracted or in love with her. But one day, the girl got involved in an accident. With this, the guy made a time machine (or watch) and turn back to the time when the girl was still alive and got the chance to know and spend time with her. The story concludes with the guy dropping the time machine or watch in the shoreline.

THE IDEA I GOT FROM THIS VIDEO: I would like to connect this with my idea from the first video. For this one, the girl (who is a fan of the guy) persistently shows up at his concerts, events and guest appearances. They've been to a lot of fan-artist interaction but only became personal when the girl was luckily chosen to be serenaded by her idol on-stage…and was followed by secret café dates and etc.

I think I'm too absorbed by my fan girl feelings for this one. Obviously, the ideas I have are the fancies of a fan girl (SO ME). But I guess this type of story is amusing to tell or do because some can relate to it. I know so many fan girls who are great fan fiction writers and a lot of people and fan girls alike read their works because it is not only dreamy and sweet but there’s this sort of connection that we feel like we know each other and we got the same feeling or adoration for our favorites.

Also, I think it would be interesting to do a fan-artist story or a story about the perspective of being a fan girl. I don’t know if it’s just me but the idea sounds exciting, cool and new. Hehe.

So, what do you guys think?
Please put a comment, opinion or suggestion if you want to.

You can also fan-girl with me if you want. Haha.

Thank you so much for reading!

See you!

XIAO PAU SAYS HI!

Hello to you! (Yes, you)

WELCOME TO MY IDEA BLOG!!!

In here, I will write any idea that will pop into my mind whether I’m eating, on the way home, listening to music or in the middle of a class discussion. This idea blog intends to be my story journal---the stories I want to come to life someday. This is also a class requirement for our Introduction to Media Writing Class...but first of all, let me introduce myself.

*ahem*

So, my name is Pauleen. I am 19 years old and currently a third year AB Communication student. I love to read books, listen to music, watch home shopping channels, fan girl to my favorite artists, eat chicken, and study Asian culture. I am also left-handed, a Gemini and I am afraid of lizards and heights.

If you’re wondering what type of books I read, movies I watch or music I listen to, then my answer is I don’t have any particular genre that I like…I basically read, watch and listen to anything just as long as I like it, regardless of its popularity and language (Subs are my BFF). It usually depends on my mood swings…because there are days when I feel like I just want to listen to rock and nothing more and the next day, I’ll see myself dancing to pop music. But, I am more inclined to the Asian culture (I love Asia especially its cuisine and yes, it’s also because I’m Asian hehe.) And as we go along, you’ll realize that majority of my post will be about my favorites and why it is related to my ideas.

Anyway, I named my blog Xiao Pau because “Xiao” means “small” in Chinese Mandarin and my full first name, Pauleen, means “small” in Latin. So in translation, my blog title is “Small Small.”

In pictures, my blog will look a little something like this:

My life…will all the ideas that randomly pops in my mind.

Rurouni Kenshin (Live Action film)

ONE OK ROCK

Battle Royale The Novel

And some posts about my personal story inspirations and fan fictions...

For my first idea to share…well, this one is kind of short but the germ for the story is about a group of young high school students (let’s say they are 12-15 years old) who dreams of becoming a famous rock band. Without enough money for musical instruments, studio rental fees, contest registration fees, support from parents, and an age bracket that is “too young” for this kind of industry, the group will together experience exploring the amateur stages of being a band along with the struggles, the joys, and the thrill of chasing a still impossible dream.

(I can already imagine them writing songs during class discussions and pitching their ideas during their lunch break. They will also borrow CDs and playlists to each other and watch gigs without parental consent. Lol.)

So what do you guys think? (I used to be in a band when I was in high school too. Hehe).
You may leave a comment or any suggestions. Thank you for reading!

See you on my next post!
